SafeSpace | Feeling Lonely While Living Abroad

Living abroad doesn’t always mean feeling connected

Moving to another country can be exciting. New surroundings, new experiences and opportunities to build a different life.

But sometimes there’s another side to living abroad that people don’t talk about.

You might miss familiar faces, old friendships or simply having somebody nearby who understands you.

Perhaps you’re surrounded by people but still feel lonely.

Maybe you’re finding it difficult to make friends, adjust to a different culture or explain how you’re really feeling to family back home.

You can enjoy living abroad and still have days when you feel alone.

Sometimes you just need somebody to talk to

I’m Gordon, and through SafeSpace I offer friendly, informal conversations for adults aged 18 and over.

You don’t need to be experiencing a crisis.

You don’t need to have everything worked out.

And you don’t need to know exactly what you want to say.

Whether you’re living in Thailand, elsewhere in Asia, Europe or another part of the world, sometimes a conversation with somebody outside your everyday life can make a difference.

We might talk about:

  • Loneliness and missing home
  • Finding friendships and a sense of belonging
  • Relationships and feeling disconnected
  • Everyday pressures and adjusting to life abroad
  • Whatever happens to be on your mind

There’s no judgement, no pressure and no expectation that you need to change anything.

Start with a free 15-minute conversation

Your first 15 minutes are free.

It’s simply an opportunity to say hello, have a chat and see whether SafeSpace feels right for you.

If you’d like to continue, a 30-minute conversation costs £15.

There are no packages or obligation to continue.

A conversation can make a difference

Sometimes having someone listen is a good place to begin.
